Karaoke weirdness @ Sorabol Korean Restaurant

Had a work thing at Sorabol Korean (at Hell's Intersection, otherwise known as 82nd and Powell). So they've got a lounge that's open until 11pm. They've also got one broken machine, which left only four pages of English songs available, none of which had the artist listed.

My selections:
Faith by George Michael
Dreams by Fleetwood Mac
Material Girl by Madonna (blech, no fun to sing)

So you're drinking ridiculous quantities of shoju and you're hoping the song you chose is actually what you think it is... and the KJ is interjecting at every fourth song to sing her own selections in Korean... and you're watching your tone-deaf boss do "Copa Cabana"... and it was one of the weirdest nights on the mic that I've ever had.

the KJ was chill, not very lively but did not seem to mind that I was a free style freak. I never got warned about say fuck ,shit, ass, and not even a bad look when I was groping that singer girl in the photos. She didn't like it but there was a hand full of people laughing there asses off.

Dante's is so fun! They have a live band you karaoke to! It totaly makes you fell like a rockstar! It's downtown on burnside. The only downside is a $2 cover, it's worth it though.

I just heard of a place called the( Paragon )......its in north portland ..
I hear its slow there and that the K< works for tips only. I also hear that if you want to try your hand at KJ-ing, the KJ turn over is high.
so if you have wanted to be a week end KJ then hear is your chance ...
but don't do it for the money because your not going to make any.

I am also a wannabe rock star. So I love to get decked out and go do a few songs at the local Karaoke lounge.
Unfortunately, here in Michigan, a good lounge is hard to find.
Most these days have wannabe rap stars freestyling over thier favorite 'Snoop' song and posturing like 'Fifty cent'.
Then getting drunk and fighting in the parking lot...Oh like so much fun?
I miss the days of the old XO. Oh what fun that was.

Almost made the Cult of Blue Oysters. But not quite.

Tonight at Gypsy, KGON 92.3FM was auditioning backup singers for Blue
Oyster Cult's Roseland show. Out of ~30 people, I tied for 2nd in both
the opening round and the finals with the same guy, and they gave it to
him.

They did give me a free pass for 2 to the Oregon Beer & Wine Festival
next weekend. Like I can't just buy that shit at Fred Meyer. I guess
while I'm at the grocery store, I'll also have to pick up some other
prescription for my fever.

Damn it all.
