Had a work thing at Sorabol Korean (at Hell's Intersection, otherwise known as 82nd and Powell). So they've got a lounge that's open until 11pm. They've also got one broken machine, which left only four pages of English songs available, none of which had the artist listed.
My selections:
Faith by George Michael
Dreams by Fleetwood Mac
Material Girl by Madonna (blech, no fun to sing)
So you're drinking ridiculous quantities of shoju and you're hoping the song you chose is actually what you think it is... and the KJ is interjecting at every fourth song to sing her own selections in Korean... and you're watching your tone-deaf boss do "Copa Cabana"... and it was one of the weirdest nights on the mic that I've ever had.

Re: Karaoke weirdness @ Sorabol Korean Restaurant
Sat, April 2, 2005 - 9:46 PMThere was no pretending about it. I do not speak Korean. I do not sing Korean. I do not look Korean. I think the KJ was pleased with me only because I could actually carry a tune.
She doesn't know that I snuck a half-full bottle of shoju into my car.
